Don't kill your Inner Child Creativity

By: Emily Moyo

7 Minutes Read

Creativity is a gift that we are all born with. As children, our minds are filled with boundless imagination and curiosity, allowing us to see the world in a unique and magical way. However, as we grow older, society often discourages this childish creativity, pushing us towards conformity and practicality. It is crucial that we do not allow this to happen, as our creativity holds the key to innovation and personal fulfillment.

Childish creativity is characterized by its fearlessness and willingness to take risks. Children are not afraid of making mistakes or being judged; they simply follow their instincts and let their imaginations run wild. This mindset allows for groundbreaking ideas and solutions to emerge.

Unfortunately, as we enter adulthood, societal pressures often stifle our creative spirit. We become more focused on meeting expectations rather than exploring new possibilities. The fear of failure becomes overwhelming, leading many to abandon their creative pursuits altogether.

However, it is important to remember that creativity is not limited to artistic endeavors alone. It can be applied in all aspects of life – from problem-solving at work to finding innovative ways of connecting with others.

Nurturing our childish creativity requires a conscious effort on our part. We must make time for playfulness and exploration in our lives. Engaging in activities such as painting, writing, or even daydreaming can help reignite the spark of imagination within us.

Moreover, surrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals who appreciate and encourage our creative endeavors can also be immensely beneficial. By sharing ideas and collaborating with others who value creativity, we can create an environment that fosters innovation.

In conclusion, it is essential that we do not kill our childish creativity as we grow older. Embracing this innate gift allows us to think outside the box and find joy in the process of creation. By nurturing our creative spirit through playfulness and collaboration, we can unlock endless possibilities for personal growth and societal advancement. Let us not allow society to extinguish our creative flame, but instead, let it burn brightly and illuminate the world around us..

This has really spoken to me in the season. I have always dreaded the notion of "growing up." Not in the literal sense but I believe our mindsets can have a great influence on our creativity. I will continue to remember that having an inquisitive mind will greatly improve my creativity....read more

@Emily Moyo I like how you mention to always remember being inquisitive.
It's actually funny to mention but I had a debate yesterday with a friend over this. My point was to never take life too serious. We can unlock a maze in our head if we relive our childhood mentally. Good Luck!!....read more
